Weekend Update

BRRRRR it's cold outside!

 Wilma is under the covers these days keeping warm!

It's a crisp, cool fall weekend here and Gibbs is matching the fall colors. This will probably be the last weekend of fall foliage, sadly. Now the raking begins!

He is very interested in Thomas lately, which is good since Thomas is a little bored since we lost Willie, but he seems to be doing better than expected.  Gibbs wants to play with him and Thomas is wanting to play back...this could be interesting, and dangerous!

Gibbs thinks the pool cover is his personal trampoline!

P. S. Also, it's been a whirlwind October here and we want to sincerely thank each of you for commenting on the loss of our horse Willie, but time just got away from us.  It really meant alot to us that you knew how much a part of our family he was and your sweet comments were comforting. Thank you so much.

Weekend Update

I'm back from a 3 week vacation in Italy with my sister.  I have never been anywhere longer than 10 days in my life and I totally loved it!  We went to Rome, Florence and Venice and I must say it was an EPIC life event for me. I went with a complete open mind looking to be inspired and savor every moment, and all my wishes came true.  Except for the fact that while I was gone my darling daughter had emergency gall bladder surgery! I was ready to come home, but the family clung together and did what it took to take good care of her and to let me stay on my trip! Thank you family!  I was feeling warm fuzzies all the way to Italy. Here are some lovely images to tie you over 'til I can get enough energy back to post away!

That's happy weekend in Italian! I am in Florence now and looking at sights like this:

 I put canned pumpkin in the batter instead of oil and cream cheese in the frosting that comes with it.  These are a huge hit!

I'm very curious to report if Italians are as obsessed with Pumpkin Spice flavored everything as we are!

Weekend Update

Happy Sunday you all!  Tomorrow I leave for Italy so I'm a little preoccupied at the moment.  Last weekend our dear Bethany and her pup Seamus not only won his puppy class, and best of winners, but he won BEST OF BREED! This was so exciting, as you may be able to tell from this darling picture.

Love it.  Hope you all are having a great weekend.  Is it summer or fall?  90 degrees here in Virginia!

Weekend update

We're doing some client work and spending some 'dog day afternoons' this weekend, as Seamus is in a dog show both days.  Wilma hung out at our house with her cousins.

AFTERNOON UPDATE:

Seamus one TOP DOG at his dogshow! He won best in his class and BEST OF BREED of all the bulldogs! He beat 5 Champions in the class! So proud of Bethany and her pup!

Weekend Update

Bethany and her family have been sending me great vacation pictures of the pups enjoying the sun, sand and water. They spent everyday beachin' it and lounging on the deck.

Seamus was getting sunburned up at the beach so she put her coverup on him...this kills me!

Meanwhile (back at the farm) Gibbs and Nick help with the horses.  We went to the Farmer's Market and to our Old Town Sidewalk Sale for a morning of socializing and behaving on Saturday. He still is a little timid of strange situations, so I am trying to take him everywhere.

Gibbs sits in the car like a human.  I need a bigger car! (excuse the blurry picture please!)

We had a few good hours at the pool last week. We close our pool around Oct. 1- a sad day for the Powell family! It's really too cold to swim in right now, but still lovely to look at!

I hope you are living it up this weekend! so that you are inspired next week! I know Nicky is:

 I have never seen a dog in a hammock by himself! Gibbs gets up there with me but not by himself.

Lots of four-legged-ness going on this week

Gibbs is 75 lbs and 10 months old now.  He loves to go with me and the hubs anytime he can hitch a ride, and he's (almost) perfectly behaved wherever we go. We are so proud of the young man he has become!

On our daily walks Gibbs has befriended the neighbors horses.

He loves our yard and is great at staying within bounds and not straying.  Nicky is another matter altogether, he will dart off in an instant. I have rescued him from the Animal Shelter  jail several times.

In the evening a family of deer with triplets usually vault our fences.  They are actually waiting to see if Willie leaves any grain in his bucket after dinner so they can grab the leftovers.

The Mr. and I worked on another all day landscape project today dividing Monkey Grass (the plant that keeps on giving!) and putting in a new bed around the shed and creating a border.  It will fill in over time, as it has done all over our property. We still have more to do on the other side of the driveway, but Im going to wait til the ground is more soft. It was rock hard today and horrible to dig in.

Bethany was busy Saturday at a client's house working on a chair reupholster and supervising the tile install of marble over the brick fireplace surround.  Lots of great things going on!

Weekend Update

Isn't this unbelievably beautiful?

I am trying to soak up every bit of this gorgeous Virginia weather this weekend. I just hate to see summer end.

There is alot going on between the P-B households:

• Bethany's hubby was in a Super Spartan race and I'm so proud of him!
• We babysat the bulldogs and did some surprise yard work for them.
• Worked on the Powell powder room; finished wallpapering it.I'll reveal it soon!
• Gibbs went to the vet this week for his sore shoulder (they say it's growing pains) and he weighs 73 lbs at 8 1/2 months!.
