Weekend Puppy Update

This marks week 10 for Gibbs, our handsome golden retriever puppy. At his vet check this week for his puppy shot, he weighed in at 20 lbs.  Remember last week he was 12 lbs? Yep! He was very enthusiastic about eating this week, I knew he was 'spurting'! He grew 2 1/2 inches!!! Ive been marking it on the door in our hallway.   Seamus went for his vet check and weighs 35 lbs at 5 months. The vet said he was a beautiful specimen of a bulldog!  We knew that !

Nicky is getting a little closer in proximity this week; they are almost playing together. This gives me hope.  I feel like one day they will be friends.  Gibbs is breaking Nicky down.

This week Gibbs went for walks on the leash successfully- however gangly and goofy he may be.

He loves to go outside, even in the bitter cold.  He especially loves to romp in the snow.

Nicky is asleep on the sofa while Gibbs plays in the family room. This old leather sofa and wall to wall may have to get replaced when puppy raising is done.. oh darn!

I hope you all are having a good weekend and that if you or your loved ones have been sick, as I hear many of you are, I pray you feel better soon and that your households are purged of this horrible flu going around!

Enjoy your Sunday.
Nancy

  3. What a beautiful puppy! Congratulations -- I'm sure he will be a wonderful addition to the family! Sometimes it is harder for the older dogs when a vibrant and gangly new puppy is around! Hang in there... they may get closer and will at least get used to each other in time. We have been having a new puppy around our house a lot these days too -- our son's girlfriend's mountain dog mix. We even took care of her over Christmas so the family could travel. At first the two dogs were very jumpy together... I wasn't sure how it was going to work out... But it has evolved so sweetly at times... Have seen them on separate ends of our leather sofa, where over the course of an hour they kept getting closer and closer until they were snuggling! The mountain dog loves to snuggle and will share a chair or a bed with our 8 year old Olivia lab/border collie mix -- it is too funny as that puppy is rapidly growing! I love your idea of marking his growth on the door -- will have to pass that idea on. Good luck with all the new adjustments that come with it. Walking the two dogs together is a good idea if your older one can do it!

  4. Oh, that adorable face!! Brings back memories of taking Rio for walks when she was a baby, when she got tired she'd sit down and wouldn't budge. Glad you're having fun!
