Ceiling WOW

Monochromatic neutral rooms are trending today, but this ceiling ups the anti!

Have you seen this gorgeous ceiling in the dining room reveal by uber talented Jessie D. Miller of The Design Daredevil?

Her ceiling 'how-to' features MDF cut with a C and C router from her design mirrored from the wallpaper in the room.

Neutral doesn't have to be boring!!

Designer Watch: Kim Macumber

My friend Kim Macumber's design business is on fire this year- just take a look at this room which was featured in the Boston Globe.  OMG, I love the  high gloss red here.  Red is usually not a color on my radar, but her design here really makes me reel.

Kim has taken her #projectdownsize at Peckham Hill (follow her on Instagram) to new levels. It is so refreshing for a designer to start with a blank canvas in a new home and it is so fun to watch it unfold.  I've labeled her style "Bold Traditional" and her vibrant use of color exemplifies her colorful and bubbly personality.
She's New England with a strong dose of Southern charm!

One of her recent "Farmhouse" projects includes these two kids bathrooms.  I LOVE the paper!

Bethany and I  met Kim and her daughter Erin in DC a few years ago, and we've been fast friends ever since.  I love the long distance friendships I've made through our blog! She is one of those people I feel I have known all my life and we bounce ideas and talk about the design business on a continual basis.  It makes us feel like we have an office mate!

Make sure you check out Kim's blog and follow her decorating adventures in New England.  You will see great things from Kim Macumber Interiors this year!

She is making the world more beautiful, one room at a time!

Lunching with Loi

Could the day have been any more perfect?
Bethany and I went to the home of Loi and Tom from Tone on Tone Antiques along with our friend Kerry Steele, from Design du Monde, for a fabulous luncheon.
Of course the tour of his home did not disappoint.  Are you kidding? It was a museum, perfection at every turn. Loi is a master designer, curator and host. He and Tom have remodeled their home inside and out to reflect the most beautiful architecture, home to their treasures and their magnificent gardens. I felt like we were on hallowed ground.
These photos (taken by Nancy) hardly do his beautiful home justice.  Their home has been professionally photographed and featured many times, so take this novice's angle with a grain bucket of salt at what is behind the scene of Tone on Tone.

I hope you enjoyed a  sneak peak into Loi and Tom's home. We sure did. We love our blogging community!

Have a great week.
