Inspired by...

Have you seen the work of Betsy Brown, a designer from Alabama?
 Oh my.

New Crush - Geremia

I spied this little pretty on a OKL Tastemaker Tag Sale and after clicking the link to find out more about the designer, I was down a serious rabbit hole.

Bay-area based design firm Geremia has that something something that lends their talents to both residential and commercial projects - with equal awesomeness.  They give a whole new meaning to creative workspaces and really inject a unique point of view in their projects.  Something we all seem to seek out after seeing so much same-same.

I mean if DropBox (above) and Instagram (below) took advantage of their design skillz, you know they've got that it thing going on.

And homes? Silly.

Quadrants

I often evaluate a room and it's function and aesthetic by making sure there is something visual and or functional in every quadrant of a room.  An important function of each "quarter" is lighting. There should be adequate lighting in all four sectors, be it overhead, task, or ambient light.

1
This room, by one of my favorite designers  S. Russell Groves, is a great example of ample lighting. There is literally a lamp in each quadrant plus an overhead fixture.  Overhead lighting is certainly "back" in fashion, and not only adds more lumens to a room but is also a key focal point, a sculptural quality on the ceiling which is often a blank forgotten space.   Here is the other side of Groves room design:

I hope this tip helps you to analyze your lighting needs in your space.  Is there adequate lighting in each quarter of your room?

Simple and Curated

The post about Key Elements is exemplified in these shots of a living room by designer Kelly McGuill. ( Check out her blog: OSOD! ) She has brought nature indoors, has a quiet luxury feel, and is perfectly curated.  'Nuff said, just enjoy...

Oh, and do I see natural elements, neutral tones and saddle brown leather- LOVE.

How do you feel about the lack of window treatments?

Make the most of your day!

Windsor Smith

Enjoy a  little Windsor Smith love today.

 This bathroom kills me!

A tasteful eclectic mix:

A surprise light fixture:

Neutral with changeable color pops:

The books could be all white, or this fun mix adds some whimsy:

She is one of my favorite designers. Her Room in a Box concept is beautifully marketed...have you checked that out? We came up with that same name and thought we were brilliant until we came across her website (where her obvious budgeting dollars exceeded ours- just a bit...).

My designer home (in my dreams)

Do you ever have a tough time getting back in the swing after a vacation? I had the greatest time at Myrtle Beach this past weekend and I need a stick of dynamite to get me going.  How about these images to keep me in dreamland?  If I could have each room designed by a professional, this would be my taste (today).

I like alot of architectural details, and simplicity. Welcome to my entry designed by Benjamin Dhong:

My living room, as designed by Steven Gambril (I wish):

This would be my family room/sun room designed by Phoebe Howard:

My dream dining room by Patrik Lonn:

Here is my dream master bath by Tiffany Eastman:

This kitchen designed by Carolina Design Associates:

I intended for this to be a quick post, but it really has me thinking of every hallway, laundry, back porch, etc, so this clearly is an idea to continue.

Have a great day.

Never tired of blue and white

Bethany and I are busy bees these days. We are currently painting her master bedroom for her One Room Challenge, and we have several new decorating clients we are meeting with this week!

As you may know, I have a lot of blue and white in my home and I collect blue and white Chinese porcelains.  I think Bethany's last count was 60 pieces around my house.  Obsessed much?  I love pattern and color and they happen to have both.

Here are some of my favorite designers and the use of bold pattern and blues.

I use a lot of blue in my home as well:

It's blazing hot here; a lot of my neighbors are still without power from the extreme storms last Friday evening. We have lots of trees down, 2 of them toppled our pasture fence, but there are many stories more tragic than mine. My heart and prayers go out to those dealing with the storm damage and heat.

Wouldn't we all just like to lounge at a pool like this one right about now?

We have a lot to show you in the coming days, and a giveaway, too so stay tuned. Have a wonderful week!
