We welcome our friend Loi Thai, the talented designer and owner of Tone on Tone, a beautiful Swedish Antiques store in Bethesda, MD. His fabulous blog chronicles his buying trips to Europe, and his travels to New England; all so wonderfully photographed. We have had the pleasure of being in Loi's home, which is as beautifully curated as his store. He and his partner Tom have a lovely collection of art and antiques which he will share with us today.
"I am very excited to be back at Powell Brower sharing art from our home. Let's start with the two oil landscapes by artist Lewis Bryden. I discovered the paintings during a lunch break when I was an accountant many years ago. For two weeks, I would visit and admire them - so luminous, serene and atmospheric. One day I decided to purchase both on layaway. When I finally brought them home, I agonized about the perfect spots, heights, etc.
Currently, they are enjoyed in the dining room. The pair are now framed in antique American silver luster frames, which I had cut down to fit the paintings.
Another painting very special to me is this abstract of Nantucket from Judy Caldwell. A departure from the rest of our pieces, its rhythmic colors and lines speak to me. I see sky, mist, fog and the horizon.
I hope you have enjoyed seeing some of our art. Thanks for having me, again!
Cheers, Loi"
Always classic and so well edited, his home and his treasures are always a pleasure to

These landscapes are stunning. I am fickle about landscapes ... I can see why Loi continued to visit these until he was able to bring them home! Love your Wall series Nancy ... so fun to see what speaks to us all. xo

ReplyDeleteI always love abstract but the Bryden paintings are gorgeous! The one on the right almost appears grisaille. And the frames are perfect.
