DIY Outdoor Christmas AccentTrees

I'm sure this isn't a unique idea, but I haven't seen it online yet.  Here is the easiest lighted tree idea if you have some tomato stakes left over from your vegetable garden.

My two baby crepe myrtles in pots are done for the season so I put upside down tomato cages over them to create some lighted trees for the entry. Just tie the ends together like a tee pee and start wrapping the garland around it spiraling down.

I hoard fake garlands as you'll see when I post my Christmas house tour, so I had a few lighted garlands left over. Love the metal stems that you can bend over the tomato cage frame. You've got to adjust the greenery a lot.

I need a new door mat to cover the cords!  It takes me a week or two to get my whole house decorated, how about you?

  2. That is a great idea! I think I would make them permanent and wire the garland to the cages and stash them at the end of the season.

  4. Clever! How did you come up with that idea? Smart! Hey, you are probably the only one who noticed the cords in your picture (don't we all see the littlest thing that isn't 'right'?). Your entry looks gorgeous.
