I'm particularly interested in staging for photos of my laundry room for the ORC BIG REVEAL this Wednesday... don't forget to come back and see us!
Bet you didn't know I started out as an "Accessory Designer" in the late 80's with my first decorating career! I collect them like food staples in my pantry..pretty much overloaded with accessories, but can't part with a one!
Here's the low down in my own version of must haves:
1. Colorful water or liquor bottles on counters or bar carts such as Pelligrino, Tanguray or Bombay Sapphire bottles...
3. A great image on your TV screen- I'm not so sure about this one. I'd rather downplay it, unless you can put a piece of art on the TV like this:
4. Sheepskin throws ( Bethany and I have them all over our houses.)
5.Decorating Books ( all THE RAGE these days) Here's Bethany's:
6. Meyers Cleaning Products from MrsMeyers.com:
7. A lovely teapot on your range ( like popular Alessi, by Michael Graves)
8. A Le Creuset pot or Kitchen Aid mixer in an accent color to match your decor.
9. The "warm-fuzzy" element, like dogs or cats, OR pictures of them, OR a stuffed animal prop, like Christine Dovey's sheep in her new nursery or our own:
infamous "Wilma Applesauce Brower" |
10. Lemons and/or fresh flowers

11. Orchids like this on Bethany's nightstand:
12. Big Leaves, greenery, like the infamous FLF (fiddle leaf fig):
via
14. An inviting outdoor space with a fire pit:
Do you use any of these tricks? There aren't many of these I can use in my laundry room, but I'll try!
Have a great week. See you Wednesday for the ONE ROOM CHALLENGE REVEAL, along with 19 other participants! Good luck everyone.
Nancy

Styling in a laundry room is probably not easy. You want it to be pretty, but it is also and down and dirty space that has to function well!! I am doing the same with my desk. I want it pretty, but I really do have to WORK there!! xo
ReplyDeleteSo funny, I have several stashes of accessories to "shop" when I want to change things. I feel sort of guilty having all that extra stuff but I see that I am in good company.
ReplyDeleteStyling is the hardest part. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Kerry. I love to keep a stash of stuff to pull from. It also makes it fun to switch around the house every so often.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy my personal 'store' in my home, too. Like you, I have too much inventory but I love them all.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to Wednesday!
Wilma Applesauce is a fantastic accessory. :)
The hardest part for real! I don't struggle with the making it look good part, only the making it liveable and look good part!
ReplyDeleteAgree with Linda, styling is the hardest part. Can't wait for the big reveal!
ReplyDeleteThese are all great tips! I can't wait to see your styling....Its so much more difficult than it seems.
ReplyDeleteDidn't know your were an accessory designer?! Now I know where all that creativity stems from! Love all the tips, i do use a lot of these but I bet the "staging" in your laundry room will be for keeps! Can't wait!
ReplyDeletePlants and lemons. Yes I have used them. Need to get my hands on a sheepskin though, I do love that trend!

What helpful tips, Nancy!! I love using fresh flowers, I can't wait to see your laundry room Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteI found your blog through the comments on the Good Bones, Great Pieces post about accessorizing king size beds. I loved the picture you shared...especially the fabric on that headboard :) On another note, we staged and sold our home ourselves last year. I incorporated some of your tips, but I wish I'd read this about a year ago :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part! The hard part for me is coming up with something fresh and new! Didn't notice any bathrooms in there! :) I've already been dreaming of your laundry room, and that rug!!
ReplyDeletehow great are the waster colored ping pong balls!!!????
ReplyDeletexx love
