It's all about Good Design

There really is a science to good design whether a room is your taste or not.  It involves key principles that make a formula for success, like this beautiful room by Robeson Design.

        1

The  seven "Principals of Design" are:
Rhythm
Contrast
Unity
Pattern
Emphasis
Movement
Texture
                                                                                                          2

See how your eye moves around the room to the delicious repetition of shapes, contrast, texture, etc.? This is no accident. See if your rooms abide by this formula.

  2. Rhythm is hard to determine, how do you know if your room has rhythm Nancy? that would be an interesting topic to post about. I follow Robeson Design too on Youtube mostly for her holiday decor and I love her makeovers too! Have a great day, and if you can, check out my room right now if it has rhythm? ;-)

  3. Yes, I agree, Nancy! Texture is especially important in a very pale colored room. For contrast, I love using accents such as bronze, black iron or even gilded accessories. Hope you are enjoying a great day in Williamsburg :)

  4. I'll be checking every room now. I think that's why I love neutral rooms, but they must have lots of texture and different shades....great info here!!
