Spoiled rotten

I'm concerned that images I pin and use for blog posts will disappear over time as noted by several bloggers and myself. In looking through our archived posts our images are replaced with blue boxes with question marks!  I cannot image going back through all those posts and redoing those pictures.   Any suggestion or tip for pinned images? I got lazy and just embedded alot of HTML, rather than saved the images to my desktop. Have you noticed that embedded images don't last in your old posts? or is it any Pinterest image saved or embedded?  Guess this is another notch in the "pro" column for original content and our own photos...but, dang, Im so spoiled from Pinterest. What do you think?

  1. I haven't noticed problems with any of my pictures, but I always save them first! I'll have to take another look back to make sure.

  2. Oh my gosh Nancy, I first noticed this on mine a few months ago! I was so bummed, I had no idea the correct procedure of saving to your desktop. #techsavvyNOT :( It's been a HUGE amount of work, but I've been going back thru updating all of the posts! I hate thinking someone pops over to view a post and they get the little boxes, not a great first impression!

  3. Will do some searching and see what if anything has occurred here at the BLH. Very interesting!

  4. It's because you did not save the image and publish it from your own computer. The link that you used has expired.

  5. I guess I'm lucky not to encounter that problem yet. Although, since I changed my blog name, I could not change my html address because of the same dilemma you just mentioned. I probably wuld need to hire a professional (or have tons of time & in my hands) if I want to change my html address to my new blog name, but that's something to consider, at least for me, in the future. Good luck Nancy and let us know if you find a great solution.

  7. I noticed this a few months ago too. It's interesting to me that although the images error out, the link to the pin is still correct. They must be moving the photo files around on their server... which, IMHO completely defeats the purpose of the embed option altogether.

I wonder if anyone has submitted this as a complaint or whatever. Maybe there's something they could do to help this not happen in the future.

  8. I have noticed the same thing just recently. I have been saving my content to external hard drive each week.

  9. Why does that happen?

  10. Hmm... I always just drag them to the desktop and then pin. I do end up with a very messy desktop though! N.G.
