DC Designer Show House

Hi friends. Bethany and I had a glorious day touring at the 2013 DC Show House and meeting up with Michele of My Notting Hill and Kerry of Design du Monde!  So fun to be with these blog friends and meet new ones. We also ran into Christina of the Proper Hunt and Leah Moss of Apartment Therapy (DC). It was a great day that started with this tour:

This new construction by GTM Architects is at 2507 Foxhall Road NW, Washington, DC.  This 14,000 square foot home has 8 bedrooms, 8 full baths, and 4 half baths on five floors.  It was so huge there were two full-size kitchens in the house!

The first room that impressed us was by Camille Saum, a designer who has done many a showhouse in the past.  She always surprises us with outfits to match her rooms! She is so fun and a bit whimsical - that's why I love her! The ceiling treatment was interesting and you know Bethany and I love ceiling treatments!

The art was impressive and all original.

One of the vignettes that stopped us in our tracks was a hallway and bar design by A.Houck Designs. She used Farrow and Ball "London Clay" walls (FB 244) and they were so stunning with this acrylic console and magnificent painting.

This hallway led to a French Modern Bar with a caramel onyx counter, faux finished moldings and wall coverings and antique mirror backsplash.

The light fixtures, wall coverings and finishes were what impressed me the most about this show house.

Our very favorite room was a sitting room by Michael Hampton.

This faux bois paper was cut in squares and hung in a "parquet" pattern..

These silver lacquered Phillip Jefferies paper walls were stunning - especially with the vintage Oushak rug.

And the alpaca curtains were absolutely to die for:

We were on sensory overload after this room. We wanted to wrap ourselves in everything in this room!

Another grand space of note was the master bedroom by the talented Susan Jamieson - with her vintage 1960's light fixtures and magnificent layers in blues, grays, creams and gold.

The mother-of-pearl ceiling installed in a herringbone pattern... amazing!

There were loads of surprises around every corner like this vanity with these amazing Bertoia chairs woven with leather.

And this beautiful hallway vignette in the upstairs master mezzanine by Claire Schwab and Katharine Howard:

A fun teen bathroom with 'backwards' words on the wall opposite the vanity mirror to reflect words of wisdom:

And a coordinating teen boy's room by Regan Billingsley.  It was quite fun with her lime green over-dyed rug, painted desk, vintage locker and men's suiting fabric layers.

Remember Bethany's recent post? She had to be pried away from this stool that adorned the second kitchen on the lower level of the DC Show House.

Kerry actually painted her skirt for the event!!! So clever and oh so talented!

We had a blast. I will post more tomorrow...it's just too much to take in!
