Yikes Stripes

I was listening to [my fave] Cosmo Radio the other day and they had a fashion editor on to gab about what's trending this spring -- stripes!

However it occurred to me whilst listening... when have stripes not been cool?

They have transcended everything. And are so versatile.

A little ticking doesn't have to always be country.

Black and white doesn't always have to be Parisian.

Navy and white doesn't always have to go boating.

Seersucker doesn't always have to be sweet.  Although Seamus does desperately need this gentlemanly bow for his collar...

And so on and so forth.

Stripes are so cool they fell in love with each other and made many a lovechild... chevrons, herringbones, arrows and plaids!  I can remember having a favorite striped shirt from every decade and half-decade I've lived.  Haven't you?

So while always in and totally relevant, I ask you, do you remember a time when stripes weren't in fashion?

  1. I heard stripes were trending too and thought that was a silly thing to say. Isn't that like saying breathing is big this Spring, LOL!

  2. I can't answer that, but I love them. They make me feel happy.

  3. nice, it's what I talked about today too, only wearing them instead of sitting on them. I love them anyway I see them!

  4. So funny, when I read your first sentence I thought, 'They were trending last year too.' Guess far longer than that! I remember a favorite neon stripe t-shirt when I was a teen!

  5. You can never go wrong with stripes...or polka dots (in my opinion). :)

  6. Agree with you and Elizabeth! Have a great weekend, B!

  7. I'm with you, when were stripes ever out of style??? These are lovely spaces. The stripes look very sophisticated.

  8. You are so right, stripes are always good!!! I just entered the contest on Olioboard and invite you to come vote for me! The name of my board....Stripes are Hot!!!!! heres a link.

  9. Amen Bethany, I think 1/6 of my clothes from tops to bottoms are stripes.:-)

  10. OMG I love your comparisons!! Or are they contrasts...anyway they are brilliant!

  11. Stirpes are classic, beautiful examples!
