I heart Klismos

Have I ever told you the story of my Klismos chair?

A couple of years ago, I had just accepted a new position at a new company that required me to work from my home.  I happily accepted the offer and then promptly began to panic about getting an office together.

I figured I'd look for a good desk chair while I was on vacation, knowing in my head exactly what I wanted.  Leather.  Good broken in saddle leather.  I considered this lovely for a while, but it just wasn't for long periods of sitting.

After desperately scouring Craig, eBay and Etsy, I finally I stumbled in to a nice shoppe in Rehobeth Beach and there she sat.  In all his Klismos beauty.  That was it.  I found it!

Until I read the price tag.

No way, no how would I could I pay $1200 for a chair.  Nope.  So I poured over it and lamented over it and just sat there and honest to goodness admired it.  The shop gal told me it was the last of a dining set of Oly Studio chairs and she'd be willing to give me a deal. After some friendly haggling, I ended up loading this pup up in my car for $400 smackers.

And I really love this thing.  God forbid I ever want his brothers... I'd have to sell a kidney to get a whole set.

I wasn't necessarily a fan of Klismos chairs to begin with but since my chair wasn't overly exaggerated, it helped ease a toe into the Klismos water.  Now, I'm a huge fan!  I like the curvilinear lines, with the swoopy legs and the straight back.

Like so many things, I think the Klismos chair is either one of those items that you like or you don't.  I tend to really like them.

We are off to work on our design plans for two little girls' bedrooms.  I hope you have a great start to your week!

By the way, Bethany, I read your resolutions post a while back and didn't comment at the time because I was on my iphone and didn't take the time to go through it , but your post was so honest and heart-felt. Thanks sharing those thoughts with us - I wish you the best in the what lies ahead!

  9. Bethany I love the Klismos Chair. As far as for the office, as long as it is comfortable, I might need a plusher seat!

I hope you will come over and see my latest artist feature!
