Art.
HAHHAHA.
So you know how Mom loves her museum tours? God love her and my brother, but I just can't...
When we were staying at my in-laws mountain cabin in Asheville, NC, they volunteered to take us to the Biltmore and my always-on-Army-time F.I.L. took us through the 1 bazillion square foot masterpiece at warp speed.
My kinda speed.
Speaking of what I like, when it comes to art, I know what I like and what I don't like. But I don't know much else. I minored in Fine Art in college and pretending to throw paint around on the canvas, but I can't say I came away with a real art history appreciation.
Here's what I'm loving though:
I'm pretty much dying over this Pit portrait in Erika's Coastal Living decor! If I didn't have to exercise so much restraint, I'd have portraits of Wilma Sauce everywhere.
What's YOUR favorite type of art?

I like all art, so it makes it difficult to choose, but I love the last image too! I am not certain if abstract is my favorite, but I like some of the new work out there.
ReplyDeleteHappy Tuesday.

I love all art. From my children's paintings to fine art I cannot afford! What is most important to me is that art is personal. I do try and buy art for clients' homes. But my preference is for it to be something special to them. I only hang art in my home that has meaning. xo
ReplyDeleteI am more your speed Bethany but God bless people like your mom who can really appreciate art on another level!
ReplyDeleteThe Art is great but can we talk about that ROCKIN' rocking chair? LOVE!!!
ReplyDeleteI find my taste in art hard to nail down..... but I know a good thing when I see it and I love being surrounded by pieces that I love.
ReplyDeleteLol. You are funny. I think I'm like you. Functional art.
ReplyDeleteIs that Kerry's painting? I like the dog with the hot dogs. Humor goes a long way for me. What do you call I guy with no arms and no legs in the water? Bob!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful art bringing the room together! I love this kind of art too! But I think if you love a piece even if it doesn't match it will still look beautiful anywhere. For me art is the soul of a home.
ReplyDeleteI love your honesty when it comes to art rather than trying to pretend to like it all. I like abstract and maybe functional art as well. My husband has an art degree and is SLOWLY teaching me to appreciate art of the Masters. For our house though, it has to be livable and lovable;)
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing I love more than great art...especially when it's functional:)
ReplyDeleteGREAT pieces! That nude is sensational!! Too funny that you didn't enjoy Biltmore House! HA! Not even the architecture or grounds?
ReplyDeleteLove these pieces. I think I'm with you, I usually think about how a piece is going to work in a space.
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to art, like you, I know what I like and doesn't like. I usually gravitates toward colorful, bold, abstract, functional...really anything in between. I love art that makes a statement! That is what decorators do, right?

Oh my goodness, I couldn't even begin to nail down what I like - it's all over the board! I would love a Wilma Sauce Gallery Wall! :)
ReplyDeleteChoosing the right art is very daunting for me - so most of the art works in our home just have sentimental value to us. Wish I could learn to choose better though just like you, I love the very first art and room you showed here - just simply beautiful
ReplyDeleteLove it all, but I do like the abstract/watercolor type pieces...if that makes any sense :)

You crack me up. Love all your inspiration pics. I think I'm with you though - functional art all the way.
