Itching to keep DIY'ing...

One of the things I've had on my list to update is a cute chest I have in my kitchen. I did a breakfast room makeover for a One Room Challenge last April, but never got to this chest.  Remember I have an intense blue and white kitchen, and this red chest no longer was fitting in...

I took an old tablecloth that had some holes in it, but a pattern that I love...

I used Liquitex Acrylic Gel Medium and Varnish to adhere it to the wood (on the left); it was working much better than Mod Podge (on the right--rather milky looking).

and now I'm setting up a bar on top on a mirrored tray.  More later....
Today I started Rub N' Buffing a floor lamp in my living room.  What are you into?

  1. Oh, I am painting a bar cabinet, which I hate and considering a "lattice" type insert on the cabinets to freshen it up a little. I need Linda's (MCHL) DIY woodworking skills!! xo

  2. Hi, Nancy - Hey that looks fabulous! I LOVE how you centered/laid the pattern. The band on the bottom is brilliant. This reminds me of a French marriage trunk I once had. That one was decoupaged in Indienne-ish paper. If you stained the legs / base really dark, it would look striking and more antique-ish. Another great project :)

  12. Awesome! I Modge Podged a dresser for my daughter when she was a newborn. I used a fabric that had dragonflies. Cut out the dragonflies and incorporated them into a pond scene that I painted on it. It was soo cute. :) Fun stuff!
