I have a small area designated for dining in my cottage - I wouldn't even go so far as to call it a dining room, just area. It has one extremely tall wall, perpendicular to a half wall that marks the end of the kitchen. I need a big old piece of art to eat up the space of this large wall. But I've also been dreaming of a good banquette or settee to put up against this wall as seating around my table.
While dreaming, I've been stowing away inspiration pics of the type of banquette I want.

Lastly, but certainly not least, this beauty is my end-all be-all. In fact, this is my all time favorite.
I'm thinking something along these lines. I tried to import Nessy into my board but couldn't quite clean it up as much as I'd like. I want the cafe style chairs and a square settee to flank either end of my table. And lord knows I want this lighting, but in my small space, it would compete too much with the other lights I have in close proximity.
What do you think? Can you dig the square with the round? Or does it just irk you?

I love your plan. I think there is so much yummy, goodness with the lighting and table.

the third picture has always been a favorite of mine. and i'm all for square + round combinations, but I've got to admit, something about benches/sofas/settee's as dinning room seating irks me. it looks great in pictures, but i'm not sure if i'd do it in my own home.
ReplyDeleteWe have a banquette in our dinning room (actually an old church pew) and we love it. Pictures are on my house tour. You can really pack them in with that thing. Although we've got a rectangle table now, we used to have a big round one and I think it worked great.
ReplyDeleteI love the mix it up approach. Looking forward to your final decision.
ReplyDeleteHi Dear! Have you checked Oly Studio and Lee Industries for a settee? Or, maybe build a banquette? You and mom can do the upholstery. I'll come watch.....and learn....and help ;-) I love your ideas....a high backed settee would be very cozy....I wanna sit there, please! xxx Loi
ReplyDeleteI love mixing everything. Well, maybe not my liquor (anymore) cause it makes me sick. But definitely shapes. So I'm totally digging the square with the round. Makes things look more unexpected and interesting.
