Words with Wilma

Wilma tends to look to the English for her inspirational pearls of wisdom. I saw this quote the other day and I was reminded why I love it.  We often second guess ourselves, especially in this profession. Does it look good enough? Will the client like it? Is it too out-there? Is it too common?  Is this the right palette?

Sometimes we have to remind ourselves that we aren't perfect but if we stay true to our vision, we will always have our integrity.  So what if not everyone likes you.  The only person who needs to like you is you. And maybe your significant other.  Be strong. Don't second guess yourself. And if someone doesn't like you, then good.  Means you're made of some good stuff.

Words with Wilma

Everyone in my family communicates in movie quotes.  So it should come as no surprise that even Wilma favors them!  Not only is this one of our personal favorites, from Love Actually, it is also especially befitting this week.

Wedding Weekend

I was trying to find something smashing to wear for my very good friend's wedding tomorrow (sadly, Mom and I will be attending different weddings tomorrow evening).  After conferring with Mom that the dress I bought for the occasion hugs me a bit too tight in the wrong places, I opted to pull out the old trusty - the LBD.

In an effort to jazz it up, I plan to wear some neon purple heels and some equally neon lipstick.  A la Emma Stone here.  I just love how she pulls off the black and pink.  I hope I can too.

Sunday, we're off to a dog show in nearby Millwood, VA, to check out the scene.  My husband and I are crazy over our bulldog, Wilma, and are contemplating adding another to our brood.  A little brother for Wilma to look after.  While I was busy researching breeders, my vet gave my name to a show breeder in Virginia, who called me to let me know she just had a litter.  Needless to say, we're so excited at the prospect of getting another pup, but are cautiously doing our research and saving pennies in the meantime.  Not sure if it's even feasible in our fall budget, but we're going to do everything we can to make it work.

Who can resist a lineup of bulldogs?  We certainly can't.

While my husband and I are fast trackin' it to becoming these types...

We're trying to contain Best in Show to the bathroom for now.

What are you doing this weekend?

I think Wilma needs this cute RL 'riding coat'.

Sneaky Peak

Mom Nancy and I have been fervently polishing off our latest project...a third-bedroom turned home-office at my house.

I now work exclusively from home and was determined to make a space that felt professional but warm.  I wanted to spread my wings a bit and try to remain completely neutral in the decor.  Since we love color so much, especially large pops of it, I wanted to see if I could restrain myself and still find balance and whimsy within the space.

Here are some sneak peaks.  Until, as with most things on our [new] blog, we get some professional photos taken of our homes and the projects we've done.

But most importantly, I had to properly document the bulldog's pink toe nails [in part because of all the waiting for her to fall asleep, tip toeing around to do it, and one ruined white fitted sheet]
