Friday Finds

Remember our post about Nate Berkus designing for Target with the launch date of October 21st?  I feel sorely let down. I have been to Target 3x this week to see if anything was there (I know, Im sick) and not one Nate item was on the shelf.  Today I went to another T across town and this is their entire display...ONE END CAP- that's it.  Target, I'm disappointed.

 Oh well, I did have a great day otherwise with a few finds around town.

I found this chair at the Habitat Restore for $15.00!!! yikes, that is a steal. I thought he said $50 bucks and I still would have bought it. It came with a white cushion which I will reupholster.  I want to paint the chair in a faux tortoise shell look.  Has anyone ever done that technique? I'm game!

The other lovely find was a solid crystal lamp at Marshalls for under $40.00. I bought one a few years ago for 3 times that, and it is on loan at Bethany's house. Now we will both have this beauty. I'm continuing to tweak my office decor where I put my overDIY'd rug, and Im just about there.

I love looking at Horchow online since they do have lovely things, but I feel they are overpriced. I did get this mirror for my foyer that I have been coveting on a 30% off the sale price a week ago.  They do have good sales and special days where additional discounts are given on top of that.

Project Update : Bathroom

The projecto de bano is coming right along.  It felt a little like putting 'lipstick on a pig' - prettying first, reconstructing later but the progress has been a refreshing change in the Brower home.

A play on Osbourne & Little's 'Best In Show' wallpaper was stencilled on the ceiling.  A few changes were made to reflect our breeds of choice.

New used Persian Lilihan scatter rug to warm the toes

Settling on the right mirror was exhausting (remember this post?) but I finally found this guy at Greenfront last weekend.  It's the perfect compromise between Venetian and traditional.

I am still looking for the perfect garden stool to put next to the tub and a new light fixture for above the mirror.  Here are my current thoughts:

I'm not sure what part of my brain this came from, but the mirror inspired all of this:

I feel like this is the kind of collected eclectic room that some dude that wears velvet loafers has in a treasure-trove of an apartment in some chic downtown area.  By day he runs an upscale thrift shop, but night he entertains with specialty cocktails like St. Germaine and Champagne.  It's not quite Asian, not quite antique, but just chock full of stuff and it may smell like a well-worn Persian rug in there.  There should be a token stack of books on the black chair, too.  I'm afraid of clutter, but if I wasn't, these would be some of my favorite things.

Venetian mirrors?

Jury's out over here.

Kinda starting to like them.

But then I think about any time I've started to like something that I initially despised (kinda like that song "Moves like Jagger") it's usually not gonna be something I would like forever.  Just until it stops being overplayed.

I think I would feel like the evil Queen in Sleeping Beauty when I look into one of these.

For Sale : Convex Mirror

Some new items added to our Tag Sale! section - you better head over and check them out!  Both of these recent adds are Pottery Barn pieces.  Neither work for my home any longer, but surely they could work for someone else. 

Offered for sale is one large Pottery Barn convex mirror.  The total diameter of the mirror is 17 inches and the mirror portion accounts for 14 inches.  There is an antique finish over the mirror and wooden bead detail around the outside.  Selling on eBay for $70-80!  This one can be yours at the low price of $20!!  [should've just said $19.99 as long as we were going with the infomercial affect].
