Evolution of a painting or how to accessorize when you can't find things in a specific color scheme

We had a fantastic time vicariously reinventing our teenage years when executing the little girls room recently.  Lime green and purple weren't exactly our first choices in palettes, but no matter what the girls chose, we were up to the task of pulling it together.  So Nancy got out her brushes and got to work watercoloring a tryptic for their walls.  There were a few evolutions, but in the end, it hit home with the color scheme and the white walls.

And while we're at it, we were on a very strict budget when finishing this room.  So we were vexed by the window treatment for a good long while, until we decided to zhush up some store-bought drapes.  We added a lime green zebra ribbon trim first.  Followed by a fuchsia chevron trim to bring it all together.

We used Liquid Stitch to get the job done.

Please excuse the poor photo quality!  It's so hard to take a photo of a white drape on a sunny day! We are having the room photographed professionally soon. Still some minor tweaking and a light fixture to install in these children's rooms! The fun never ends around here!

Isn't Nancy's painting the best?  I loved what she came up with.  I thought she did a great job channeling David Bromstad and adding a touch of [her] original art to the space.  Apparently David liked it too!!
