Sneak peek

We had a ball installing for our fabulous client Lisa, last Saturday.  It is being photographed soon, so we will just give you a peek at this living room design.  We kept saying how it felt like Christmas; for us for the joy of giving and creating for our client, and for the client to receive this gift of a new room! This business is a constant reaffirmation of doing what we love, and for me, having my two kids doing this with me on the scene--Bethany my partner, Michael our carpenter and installer, and my husband doing some woodwork, makes this job all the richer for me.  It is a dream come true.

You may have seen this dresser makeover , but here it is placed in the room as a media console.  Please excuse the fuzzy iphone photos!

I created a  36 x 36" painting for an accent wall.  It was a surprise for the client, so the subject matter had to be fairly tame and neutral, not knowing what her art tastes were, as we saw no other art in her home! We just needed subtle color to bring the eye around the room. My husband framed it.

These installation days are crazy and the most fun we could ever have.  We are thankful to be able to do what we love, and to do it with family and the best clients!

Sometimes it's not all pretty

We are hunting and gathering and getting ready to do some installations in the next few weeks.  I love to shop, so I'm in the perfect profession.  My husband thanks my clients for letting me spend their money, and so do I!

There are canvases and tables to paint, chairs to assemble, lighting to install, this Ikea chair to hang.

Here's one of the clients rooms we are making over:

 With 2 long narrow dormers:

A closet makeover:

It started with this plan for the girls room:

and the plan was tweaked- alot.

It has been a blast.  Hey designers, where do you stash all the goodies while you wait for the install date? I use my guest room or our studio in the basement.

Client details

We thought you might like to see some details of the yoga studio we designed and installed last weekend.  Although we are having some professional photos taken, here are some bits and pieces that made up the re-design of the existing space.

Since there are numerous colorful products of all shapes and sizes for sale at the studio, we designed a custom birch cabinet to corral them.

We enhanced a memo board with the paint that we used on the ombre stairs, fabric and nailheads, like we did on this post here. The fabric is ironically titled Chakra Handprint.  We added some coral paint in the design detail of the pattern to make it relate a bit more to the frame.

The dramatic ceiling draping was made from 50 yards of natural cotton muslin, and 24 curtain rods, wire, and alot of patience and time.

The lamps in the room went from silver, to gold to oil rubbed bronze; all part of the tweaking that goes into getting it just right!  A gallery ledge features some art and photographs that the owner had which we reframed.

We built a new bamboo front for the existing desk.

Accessories add shine and greenery to the space. (Remember our BRAGG concept?)

The entry was styled with some texture and shine as well.

We fashioned a faux chandelier feature out of 5 paper lanterns and rope.

Here are some before pictures of the studio:

Can you feel the feng shui?
