Blog Casting Call

I am in need of some fresh faces in my daily roundup.  You know how you get in to a routine of  reading the same blogs day after day because you relate so much to them? I certainly have my top 10 daily reads but in that same vein I am finding that I am less frequently going out in search of new blogs to befriend.  I can't live without these heavy hitting design blogs with my morning coffee.

I'd love to hear your recommendations of your top five to ten daily reads to see who I may have passed over!  Who's blog is maybe lesser known but packs a strong punch?  Who would you love to see get more credit? I'd love to know your dailies.  While I'll remain loyal to my girls above, I'd love to get to know some new faces!

PS - anyone who is listed on our blogroll (to the right) is a daily read for me, as well.  I am just trying to find out about new blogs that you guys are loving!

Blogger night in DC

We had the best time visiting with our blogger friend Kim Macumber and her darling daughter, Erin last night. She stopped overnight to sight see in DC on her way to take her eldest to college at Auburn.  This was a spectacular treat for us, as we met them for drinks and dinner and chatted our heads off for half the night.

It started with this - now is this any indication of the personalities involved?

We went to the W hotel to their Point of View bar for a drink and overlooked the White House and points of interest in DC. It was beautiful.

The hotel welcomed my Bethany royally....how did they know she has no limits to her success!   No, this is for Bethenny Frenkel who was at the hotel for a media event.

The beautiful landscape in DC never ceases to amaze me.

Then we headed across town to a spanish tapas restaurant, Jaleo, where we dined and chatted al fresco for hours.

We honestly felt like we were long lost friends who hadn't seen each other in years. It was great catching up in person and meeting the women behind the blog.  We shared uncensored stories about clients and business tips and never stopped talking and laughing for over 4 hours.

Thank you so much Kim and Erin for stopping in DC and sharing your evening with us. It was one we won't forget and will be repeated!

We all said how energizing and inspiring this was as bloggers to connect with our online community at a different level; a meeting that would never had happened had we not started design blogs!

I hope each of you gets to meet with fellow bloggers from time to time, it really makes us feel blessed.

Out of the mouths of (design) babes

I was thinking the other day of my new life as a design blogger, and the language I've adapted since starting this venture in Nov. 2011.  Would I ever have used these in a sentence pre-blogger days? Probably not.

Words like "swoonworthy, droolworthy, hubs, hubster, vacay, chandy, sneakity peek, DIY'er, serial DIY'er, "chic"everything, zhushing, amaze balls" have eeked out of my mouth, although, not for long. A serial DIY'er sounds pretty scary.  I certainly don't want to sound cliche,or try to be someone I'm not.  Bethany says things like 'totes'(totally) and 'lurve' (love) which are so funny to me; it really makes me feel old.  It is fun to play along though. But there is a new web "slanguage" going around blogland.

In googling the topic there are some good articles about it that speak of words like:

Blogorrhea - unusually high output of articles
Blogathy - I do not want to post today and I do not care about it
Blogstipation - writer’s block for bloggers. Cant think of what to blog about?
Vlogging - Also called video blogging.
Moblogging - Also called moblogs. A blog posted and maintained via mobile phone.

I just want to have fun and enjoy everyone's stories, pictures and musings on the topic of decorating, art and design and meet some like minded people.  It's like this except not in person:

I'm going to keep adding to this list, but tell me what are some amusing words you've heard as bloggers? Let's keep this going!
