There are many towns in the Washington, DC environs that we love to explore. Bethany mentioned our trip to Georgetown this week, but I also had a lovely day yesterday in Old Town Alexandria, VA. King Street is chock full of great boutiques, antique shops, eateries and charm. This image just about says it all:
There are always so many beautiful vignettes at J. Brown & Co.
Anna Weatherly's line of fine china just blows me away. It is sublime (and so is the $575 per plate price point)! The charger is only $150...gorgeous, and totally makes the setting.
It was a perfect day that ended with a stop at Haute Fabrics in Arlington where I picked up a few remnants to recover a bench.
Bethany and I are off on a road trip this weekend to a dog show for Seamus (cross your fingers he gets MAJOR points towards his Championship) and next week I am off to the Eastern Shore for our much anticipated beach vacation. Have a great weekend and enjoy the last days of August!
Old Town is one of my favorite places! I need to get back down there soon. Have a fantastic weekend and best of luck to Bethany and Seamus! xoxo
ReplyDeleteThe construction on 95 has kept me out of Old Town all summer and I am jonesing for a walk about and a relaxing lunch. I used to live on South Fairfax street and its funny to see how it has changed.
ReplyDeleteOld Town is quaint and a shoppers delight! Have fun at the dog show and Happy weekend.
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely spot! I sent my husband and kids on to the toy and ice cream stores, and I enjoyed poking around in some of the gorgeous decor stores!
ReplyDeleteThis really makes me want to visit. I have a friend who lives near there, too.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I have only driven up and down King Street, but I'm dying to go out there one Saturday and explore!
ReplyDeleteKing Street is lovely! What inspiring images. :)
ReplyDeleteOld Town is awesome! I love all the independent / local home shops. Good luck this weekend! And enjoy your well deserved break, Nancy. Where did summer go? xoxo, L
ReplyDeleteI can see and feel the appeal of King's Street Nancy, and those plates, yup, like art, which if I ever have them would end up on a wall instead of on a table! Anyway, good luck to Seamus, he's just so darn good looking I'm sure he'll catch a prize or two down there!
ReplyDeleteI've wanted to check out Haute Fabrics -- I drive past all the time. How was it?? Have you been before this trip?
ReplyDeleteLet me know next time you're up this way - would love to meet up!
Oh my gosh! The lush greenery and the china! I die!
