mystery glass shelves

How the heck did Nate Berkus hang these glass shelves in Rita Hazan's home, pray tell? They look to be holding pretty heavy objects, so they're not just put into slits in the drywall.  What do you think?

  1. That is so funny! I probably never would have noticed that! But, yes -- intriguing mystery! Perhaps some photoshop?

  6. I zoomed way in and can see a little dark line under one of the shelves. I suspect they routed a channel through the drywall into the studs. It's a great effect for sure. I wish I could see the rest of the room.

    1. I agree Steve- that's all I could figure - routed out stud channels - pretty cool.

  8. I think Steve got it right - channel cut into the studs, extending deeper into the wall than we think. Fun post.

  12. Not a lick of help here, but I do hope those bar stools twist down a bit. I KNOW my thighs wouldn't fit under the counter as is.
