mosquito plant!

Funny to think about summer preparations when spring is taking a long time to get here!  I saw this brilliant mosquito-repeller plant and vowed to make my own for my deck and surrounding areas.  I live in the woods and it's unbearable to even sit outside, so here's hoping this help!

The finished product that I saw online - a neat menagerie of the potted variety.

Have you tested something like this? Does it really help?

  2. I have loads of lemon thyme but have no idea if it keeps the mosquitos away. They are big and brutal around here. Your porch will smell good even if it doesn't work! LOL

  5. I believe this will only work if you rub the herbs onto yourselves. I can't think of anything passive like this that would really make a dent in the mosquito activity while we are outside. Those Off repellent devices work, but you have to not be moving a lot. Citronella candles and torches are somewhat effective, too. For me, since I work outside and am constantly on the move, I tell people that my spring/summer fragrance is Eau de Cutter.

  6. hmm, we use Thermacell. Matthew has been using them forever for hunting and thank goodness he's brought them into my life. They are heaven sent for keeping all bugs away. No fire and no smell and no chemicals on your body. I might need to do a post on them because I love it so much.
