They don't call me 'fickle' for nothin'. How many times have we discussed how fickle I am? My decisions change with the wind. After redoing our master bedroom for the One Room Challenge last year, I've had a good 12 months to ponder what I love and don't love about it. While it has been perfect and super conducive to slumber, we are considering putting our house on the market in the next year and our realtor suggested we paint the ceiling white. I get it, most wouldn't go nutso for the dark ceiling, but it's been a bold statement in this room and totally helpful at making this room our little cocoon. But I was growing antsy anyways, so I decided let's just paint it and give the room a revamp.
The headboard is a bit busy for me. Plus the white fabric has not worn well for the wear. Since we covered the headboard with a tablecloth, I'm not mad at it at all for not holding up. We do a lot of reading and TV watching against this headboard and you can tell where our little heads rest. I know, kinda gross. So I ordered some flax linen to recover it with, to match our bedskirt. I am considering throwing a blanket over it for some fun but right now, I'm enjoying the patternless look.
The bedding section at Zara Home really sealed the deal for me to rework the color palette. I love the indigo accents Mom is adding to her otherwise neutral bedroom so I am taking a page from her book. Beeteedubs, what other color looks that good with coral besides navy/indigo? I don't want to ignore my wonderful drapes in the process and indigo will complement them. I know, I almost ditched them a few months ago in favor of green velvet ones, but alas, I didn't have the heart.
This room has been such an inspiration as I think about how to best sport a neutral look with eyepopping coral drapes and indigo accents.
The ottoman we recovered has been great but since it was previously 'loved' it's starting to wear down. Now that we have two dogs, it gets twice the bounce on it, so we need a new one for the dogs to get into bed.
And that rug! The Moroccan shag rug (Beni Ourain wannabe that it is) has been HELL. It stains something fierce -- I know, it's white... but worse than that, it sheds like crazy. I've had it exactly a year now and the shaggy tumbleweeds still roll down my hallway from the rug in my bedroom every day. It's horrible! And it's so matted down in the footpath areas. Good thing it was cheap! I 'd like to move my braided jute rug in there now that I'm sans that layer in my living room.
Side note - also another cheapo rug. I was totally disenchanted with Rugs USA after this purchase. The braids separated and the jute unwound itself within two weeks of arrival. It was disintegrating by the day! BUT they refunded me for the jute rug and did good by me in the end so I'll probably go back for more in the future.
So here we are in the midst of another frequent redecoration. Have you come to expect any less?
