FALL-ing for change

It's funny how our tastes change with the season.  In the summer I love the color of water, sand, river stones, natural wood and sky blue and aqua, which I use in my home.
Now I'm looking toward the earth tones of fall in art and in fabrics.

Since traveling to Italy last October I continually peruse Fortuny online for beautiful fabric inspiration.  I am dying to have some Fortuny pillows.  I had the opportunity to buy some fabric there and thought it was too expensive! It is about double the price in the states!

Fortuny's Piumette in burnt apricot & gold

Melagrana in marmalade & silver

Campanelle in apricot monotones & silvery gold

This painting  "Autumn in the Foothills" by W. Herbert Dunton reminds me of the winter ahead and inspires a new color scheme.

         Dandolo in tortoise & gold

Orsini in warm french brown &  gold

Are you inspired to change your decor with the seasons?

  2. Nancy, I am TOTALLY inspired to change my decor with the seasons, because I get so tired of the same thing for too long......that's the magic of throw pillows. Those Fortuny fabrics are so pretty....love the apricot for fall, more subtle and easy on the eyes than straight up orange.

  7. Yes, I too enjoy art and accents (pillows and throws) changed seasonally. I love The richness and the uniqueness of Fortuny, it's all in their weave and their dye process that make their fabrics so gorgeous. Nancy a few years ago I found an offcut leftover from a large design job on eBay. I was able to purchase enough to make to fronts on a client's sofa pillows. I backed the pillows in silk velvet. Although not cheap I did find what I needed for a reduced price. I love the Melagrana one.
    Enjoy the weekend,
    Vera

  9. When I see those colors I can almost smell the leaves burning outside. How I love fall.

  10. I forgot about that smell and wonderful childhood memory- no one is allowed to burn leaves here! I'm thinking s'mores though!
