Fun weekend

A few weekends ago I had the pleasure of journeying to Charlottesville, Va, to visit my son and his girlfriend.  This was also the destination of one of Seamus's dogshows at the beautiful sprawling Foxfields venue, where steeplechases races are held.  It was a glorious spring weekend in the mountains and I finally got to tour some decorating shops I have had on my bucket list, particularly andGeorge, on Ivy Road.  It is the dream of designer Jan Roden and her daughter, former NY photographer, Christy...gotta love another mother-daughter team!  Their beautifully curated shop combines their love of art, antiques, fine fabrics and furnishings. These photos don't do it justice but pretend you are walking around the store surrounded by exquisite things.

The shop is named after Christy's English Bulldog, George, who sadly is no longer with them.  They got him on their honeymoon- our kind of people!  We talked 'bulldog' and she came to Bethany's show the next morning with her darling family.

Speaking of bulldogs, Seamus won his class in the show.  He and Bethany are a spectacular team, and racking up the points! It was fun for us all to be together and enjoy an outdoor brunch at La Taza afterwards.

Sunday Mike, Lauren and I enjoyed a gorgeous day at King Family Vineyards in Crozet, Va.,  where we watched a polo match and enjoyed a bottle of their "Crose Rose".  Nestled in the mountains on a gorgeous 327 acre farm,  of which 28 acres are planted in vines, it is a breathtaking sight to behold.  We witnessed a hang glider floating against mountains in the backdrop.  It was an idyllic day.

Some other fun shops we visited were Curious Orange, Circa, and we had a lovely al fresco dinner at Mas, a tapas bar.  Fun times!  I still didn't get to Monticello this time, guess I'll have to go back soon!
Hope you had some fun this weekend!
