Bullseye Nancy!!!!! I certainly am. Are you starting a Magazine-hoarder anonymous?! Then I'm your first member! hahaha! I have a lot that I cant throw away! Don't know what to do at this point or if there's any hope for people like me at all!
No but my mother was! She had years and years of Architectural Digests and Sunset Magazines! I'm a page ripper and I stuff 'em in a file which periodically gets purged! :) cheers to you both!
I am a recovering magazine hoarder. I finally decided that unless there was something I absulutely loved in it, then I would just recycle it... but I have to close my eyes and turn my head away as I release the magazine into the recyclying bin and I shove it under other things so I don't see it.
Hi Nancy and Bethany, I hope you had a wonderful weekend! No More, I was being overtaken by magazines and my tear sheets. Now with Pinterest I have boards for everything I like!
! thought I was until I saw this, haha! Yes I am, but lost many in a flood. If you have no place to store them, this is a great suggestion. Happy Tuesday, Nancy and Bethany. Teresa xoxo
Ohh, I'm a bit of a magazine hoarder. I subscribe to a few shelter magazines (BHG, House Beautiful, Elle Decor) as well as Real Simple and Martha Stewart Living. It's hard for me to just recycle them, but I really have to stay on top of it for it to keep from getting out of control!
Oh yes...I have a real problem. I have them stacked in closets, in bookshelves, in the basement...I don't know when I plan to re-read them but I just can't part with them! Every now and then I congratulate myself for throwing a small stack in the recycling but I have not made a dent in those towers! -Shelley
I was, and then went thru a big purge a few years ago. I was really good about recycling them each month...for a while. But I'm back to hoarding. Some habits die hard.
I was once. I used to think I needed ski poles to navigate around my bed. However, I phased into the rip and save; then rip, save and toss. I now recycle either through my friends or the recycle bin. My late MIL was also a magaholic. When I told her her first grandchild was going to be late in arriving, she didn't blink an eye, "Just think, sweetie, it'll be a whole new mag cycle!"
Every month or two, I recycle magazines by taking them to friends at work who don't subscribe to them. They do the same. Then, the recycle bin. You get to see twice as many photos and have fun. And, no more mess at home. I've rarely seen magazines look as put together and uniform as this. Most often, they are crammed here and there, eating up valuable storage space or just making people feel cluttered.
Please take your unwanted magazines to your nearest children's hospital! There are mothers that stay with their sick children for so long. They don't mind if the magazine has a dog-eared page, a missing recipe or is three years old. Anything to distract them... for even a moment... from the stress and discomfort of living on a recliner chair, praying for their sick child, is a Godsend. :o)
yes!! And I thought baskets were the answer but now I have too many baskets and still more magazines to store. I really cannot throw them away. What's the solution?

ReplyDeleteI do hoard decorating magazines. I rarely look through them so I guess that makes it a bad thing.

ReplyDeleteI totally could build a fort out of my magazines. They are just so pretty, I hate tossing them.
