Words with Wilma

Wilma tends to look to the English for her inspirational pearls of wisdom. I saw this quote the other day and I was reminded why I love it.  We often second guess ourselves, especially in this profession. Does it look good enough? Will the client like it? Is it too out-there? Is it too common?  Is this the right palette?

Sometimes we have to remind ourselves that we aren't perfect but if we stay true to our vision, we will always have our integrity.  So what if not everyone likes you.  The only person who needs to like you is you. And maybe your significant other.  Be strong. Don't second guess yourself. And if someone doesn't like you, then good.  Means you're made of some good stuff.

  1. I recently heard someone speak about this, they said, 'If you care if people don't like you you'll never make a good manager, pastor or parent!' My teenager thinks I'm the meanest mom ~ hope that indicates I'm doing ok. :)

  3. what a perfect quote in my world today! we are having a major town issue due to rich people getting arrested due to making huge scene over their underage driver son getting a ticket. I mean HUGE controversy and in my reporting it too...all the major news stations...crazy...but you know? Both sides stood up...the parents loyal to the son, the town loyal to the cops, and me to my readers trying to just stay neutral...love this quote and that face that face that glorious face!

  4. Hi, Great quote. Don't you just love Churchill? When I was in high school, dealing with all of that high school clique stuff, my dad told me something that has stuck with me my whole life. He said, "Make as many friends as you can, but remember, don't make an enemy by accident. Just because someone is not your friend, doesn't mean they must be your enemy." Love, love the picture!!

  5. AMEN Bethany - Winston Churchill, wilma and your are absolutely re ight on target. I get caught in the 'pleasing others' part when I decorate my home, but in the end, I realize that it is I who have to live in my house and not the 'others', so I just decorate FOR ME now. :-)

  7. I totally agree. It's my feeling that if you're doing something fresh that's never been seen, there's going to be a certain percentage of the population that doesn't like it just because it doesn't fit within their perception of good.

Or it could be that it sucks.

But, good or bad, it's always best to be yourself.
