This picture stopped me in my tracks for several reasons:
1. I had a neighbor who lived in a contemporary ranch, Frank Lloyd Wright-ish home when I was growing up in the 70's that had these floors and I never forgot how much I loved that look.
2. I have failing tiles in my sunroom, and would love to do this one day. It would be perfect.
3. I feel like this is coming back trend-wise, since it is earthy, natural, authentic, cozy and 'green'.
4. I just love it.period.
Here are some more herringbone floors that inspire me.
Here's my sunroom (pre-puppy). The rug is in storage since he wants to chew it!
What do you think? Like or love or hate brick floors inside a house?

LOVE!! ... Do IT!!! Inside a house ... I have parameters!! But a SUNROOM ... YES!!!! xoxo!
ReplyDeleteI have always wanted a brick floor. I love them in rustic kitchens and sun rooms.
ReplyDeleteI have wanted a brick kitchen floor since I was in high school. My grandparents added an addition with a brick floor and that was always the best room to be in.
ReplyDeleteLOVE! A client of mine is considering this very thing in her sunroom. I'm pushing the idea big and bad. :)
ReplyDeleteYES! I love the wood inside, and brick out! But, that mudroom is killer!
ReplyDeleteI think they are beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteHerringbone brick floors forever and ever, amen.
ReplyDeleteI love the feel and the look. My question. How do you take care of them...cleaning, etc.?
ReplyDeleteI know people that have these brick floors and they clean it with soap and water! If you want them shiny you can apply a sealer or wax, but it's not necessary! Back to basics, isn't it? You can't harm them!
DeleteLove them...but the brick is difficult on the feet. I love herringbone, period!
ReplyDeleteI have been looking at a lot of French herringone wood floors lately. The French are so lucky that this seems to be quite common there...to die for! So pretty and to me, timeless and classic. Love!
ReplyDeleteI've always loved brick floors-if it's pretty brick! I would even add one to my house!
ReplyDeleteI love when the out side comes in....I also like a brick weaved in with wood .... so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI agree...love the look. So warm and cozy feeling. - Brandy
ReplyDeleteAdore them myself!
ReplyDeleteIt really depends on the home for me. I love it in the entry/foyer photo you have. And to have them in a classic white kitchen is just so gorgeous and charming!
ReplyDeleteLOVE - especially if its in a sunroom! i love that pattern too - our home in Carbondale had that pattern in wood as well as the home I grew up in in the Philippines!
ReplyDeleteHey totally love herringbone floors! I am helping my in-laws with new flooring in their kitchen, and this is an option I adore. Gorgeous! xob
ReplyDeleteLoved this post! I am crazy about herringbone floors...or for that matter, any stone, brick or wood laid in a herrinbone pattern!! Your sunroom is lovely...I know what you mean about the rug...better go pick one up at IKEA until the pup gets a little bigger! Someone sent me a picture of your dog the other day and said it reminded them of my Beau!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE herringbone floors - whether they be wood, brick or stone! It broke my heart when I saw so many beautiful herringbone floors being ripped out of older, character homes. I hope they come back in style in a BIG way! Thanks for sharing!
