tisk task

I'm kind of in love with all of this task lighting happening in these kitchens.

Pictures from my Pinterest Kitchen Board

So I decided to do a little task light love in my kitchen, too.

Do you have unique task lighting in your kitchen?  Do you love it?  Do you use it at all?  I can see in some kitchens why it may be more form than function.  But my cabinets are awfully low over top of my stove, and they cast huge shadows while I'm trying to cook so I'm looking forward to task lighting!

Disclaimer: NONE of this magic has actually happened in said kitchen. Only the lights have been purchased and the rug is in place.  I said I was going to complete my kitchen in 2012, but it's not looking promising.  While I'm a bit down on that luck, I did finish my bedroom, guest room, guest bathroom and dining room so not too bad after all.  But as our blog is appropriately coined, I'm sure it will all change soon, as we are very frequent redecorators.

  1. I am anxiously awaiting a new light fixture for my kitchen from Ballard. Right now it is a rather comical handful of wires with a lightbulb hanging from a ceiling that needs patching. My choices were limited because the fixture has to provide all of the lighting as there is no task lighting that is of real use.

  3. My kitchen is wee so I only have a pendant over the sink and under counter lights. Love the ambiance task lighting gives a kitchen at dusk.

  5. I have can lights but am already planning some funky task lighting for our very-far-off kitchen reno. Lighting is key in the kitchen! And everything on dimmers, for the when the kitchen is less than sparkling clean!

  13. Makes perfect sense! Aside from my desk, the kitchen is where most of my tasks are actually done! Lighting makes all the difference in the world, especially when doing some of the detailed work done on at kitchen counter.
