Target Tease

The ads for Target for their Curiosity Shop and the talk of an equestrian line recently took us to the nearest store this week, but we were disappointed.   You know how the pictures in the ads get you thinking there are tons more things like that in the store? Well, those items pictured in the ad were practically the only things new it seemed. There was a small selection of some accessories in reds and golds, some woodsy pieces, although I did love a gold and cream houndstooth throw... We managed to come away with orange corduroys and colored jeans, though, and a Glen plaid blazer with blue striped ticking liner in the cuff.. Target is no dummy- they got us in the store, and we bought stuff.

So imagine our excitement when we found out Nate Berkus is launching a line for Target on October 21.

I'm a fan of Nate Berkus- are you?  He seems like one of us who made it big. Like a humble fellow who, at 40, has some 'seasoning' about his work.  He makes his designs affordable and spans all tastes.

I love his reason for his new book "The Things that Matter":

"It’s a reaction to all the information and the misinformation that is out there on television, in magazines and on websites telling people what to do: how to decorate. For me, the home should tell a story about the people who live there. It’s a different way of looking at design. My goal was to tell how people made their choices.
I hate when people say there are no rules to design. There are rules about things like scale and proportion. And of course a home needs to be utilitarian and functional, but there are many roads and directions to achieve this."
Bravo, Nate!

Did you now he was an Executive Producer on the movie The Help?

And he's working on another movie right now.  Here's a preview of the Nate Berkus Collection for Target:

Look at the textiles in this video! super cool.

He's come up with a way to incorporate moderately priced layers of global goodness.  Plus feed my (our) pillow addiction. Did you see those metallic pillows in the video? Ouch- might have to get one of those!

  12. He's adorable, and I am so excited about his collection (especially the tortoise shells; might have to paint them gold and make them into sconces). Looks more down to earth and accessible than the other shops they've got right now (I too was underwhelmed by the Shops sadly).

  15. so true Bethany - I too was a bit disappointed. Other than a pillow & rug from Patch NY - nothing really stood out too much for me too. I am a HUGE fan of Nate so I am equally excited with you and will be waiting for the store to open come Oct. 21 and grab that gorgeous Lamp!
