Missing the boat

I'm so inspired by all the fun posts on rope DIYs lately and feeling like the last [wo]man on earth who hasn't tried it.  Especially as I am writing them from our beach cottage, looking out at the crab posts and fun rope lines on the bay.

I have some simple new pendants I am hanging in the kitchen that are just clear glass globes.  I would like to cover the pendant cord and top of the light canopy in sisal rope, but not sure if it would be a major bad idea to hot glue the rope to the chord that transmits electricity. Thinking so.  But they did it here.

These inspire me:

What do you think about doing a pendant cord?  Any DIY experience on the rope front?

  1. There is a restoration hardware knock-off DIY mirror. Very similar to one you posted. I was tempted to do it for my boys nursery but never did- good luck!

  4. I'm loving all the rope projects lately - but I always wonder how you would dust that stuff.

  5. Thanks sweet, Bethany! I just saw another very cool one, what if you covered the cord in plastic conduit and glued to that?? Keeping my fingers crossed it works for you!

  6. That rope handrail going up the narrow staircase is exactly what we need here. There is a yachting rope shop in town, I know just what I'll be looking at today! Thanks for the inspiration.
