I took an old tablecloth that had some holes in it, but a pattern that I love...
I used Liquitex Acrylic Gel Medium and Varnish to adhere it to the wood (on the left); it was working much better than Mod Podge (on the right--rather milky looking).
and now I'm setting up a bar on top on a mirrored tray. More later....
Today I started Rub N' Buffing a floor lamp in my living room. What are you into?

Oh, I am painting a bar cabinet, which I hate and considering a "lattice" type insert on the cabinets to freshen it up a little. I need Linda's (MCHL) DIY woodworking skills!! xo
ReplyDeleteor Overlay's Kim-- Did you look into those? Good Luck. My lamp re-do with gold RubNBuff isn't going so well. Im onto my 3rd coat....
DeleteHi, Nancy - Hey that looks fabulous! I LOVE how you centered/laid the pattern. The band on the bottom is brilliant. This reminds me of a French marriage trunk I once had. That one was decoupaged in Indienne-ish paper. If you stained the legs / base really dark, it would look striking and more antique-ish. Another great project :)

I have actually never applied fabric like this. But...believe it or not, it is on my to do list. It looks great.
ReplyDeleteThis is brilliant and looks great in your kitchen. Definitely something I may have to try!
ReplyDeleteNow if I could just save some energy to paint that awful decking outside! yikes.
DeleteSo smart!!
ReplyDeleteWhat an ingenious idea to repurpose both of those into such a unique piece, can't wait to see the bar set up!
ReplyDeleteVery smart, semi-quick and easy fix with a big impact! It looks great and will be even better all dolled up. I love Rub & Buff!

ReplyDeleteHow's the rub n buff coming??
Awesome! I Modge Podged a dresser for my daughter when she was a newborn. I used a fabric that had dragonflies. Cut out the dragonflies and incorporated them into a pond scene that I painted on it. It was soo cute. :) Fun stuff!
ReplyDeleteI'm so envious of all you great DIY'ers. Looks great!
